Work Overview
Nettie Palmer's "almost mystical appreciation of the bush" is
evident in her famous poem, 'The Welcome'. In response I
sought to enfold the voice within a textural tone poem much as
the little girl is enveloped by the rich sensory experiences of
the Australian bush.
The setting uses a chromatic tonal language in deference to the
era of the poem.
