Work Overview
To Echoes and Lines explores queer women's experiences of ageing in society, and posits that as they transition through different life stages and shed societal expectations, they grow in power and sense of self. The music unfolds as a dialogue between the electronics and a joyful rebellion against the constraints of ageing (dis)gracefully. Through gesture, voice, and live electronics, the work foregrounds agency, embodiment, and self-determination, using technology not as spectacle but as a means of reinforcing expressive intent and supporting the performer's relationship with the material.
