Sheet Music: ScorePiano Sonata No. 2 / Elizabeth Younan.by Elizabeth Younan (2025)
|
Product details
In two movements, my Piano Sonata No. 2 reflects the vast emotions I felt whilst moving from Sydney to NYC to begin my doctoral studies at Juilliard. In no particular order, these emotions range from immense excitement, anticipation, nervousness, and vulnerability, to true joy, child-like eagerness and fun, and the feeling of peace that accompanies belonging with new friends.
The work is born out of a single, jittery cell - that of the perfect fourth - which continuously grows and wholly permeates each contrasting section. It pervades on the horizontal, diagonal, and vertical plane, morphing into as many differing guises as I could muster whilst creating an intriguing structural journey.
