Product details
There are three movements, each setting out to resolve an unusual compositional problem. The first 'allegro' type movement demonstrates the contradiction of atonal writing within traditional sonata form; the second slow movement does the opposite - a free atonal melody unfolding in lush surroundings making it sound tonal; the third movement juxtaposes disparate ideas, notably 'allegro' themes with the Bach choral Christus, der ist mein Leben which brings the work to its conclusion.
