Event Details

A charismatic percussion virtuoso, Claire Edwardes OAM leaps between her role as Ensemble Offspring’s Artistic Director (Australia’s leading new music ensemble), solo recitals, and concerto performances with all the Australian Symphony Orchestras, including recent premieres of commissioned works by Anne Cawrse, Elena Kats-Chernin and Iain Grandage. In 2022, Claire was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for her enduring contribution to Australian music; in 2023, she received the Creative Leadership Award and in 2025, was a finalist in the Classical Music Award at the Australian Women in Music Awards. Claire is the only Australian to win the APRA Art Music Luminary Award four times.

A three-time finalist in the Limelight Artists of the Year and described in Limelight as a “unique treasure of Australia’s musical community” and in The Age as “an invigorating musical life force,” Claire has hosted Play School, been an ARIA Award finalist twice, and performed as a soloist around the world – from Vancouver to Amsterdam, the Gold Coast to Malta, and Huddersfield to Alice Springs. Widely known for her genre-spanning solo concerts and for commissioning and premiering hundreds of new works for percussion, she passionately advocates for gender equity and diversity in all she undertakes.

Dual Attractor is Claire’s seventh solo album, following releases on Tall Poppies, ABC Classics and Move Records. Her discography stands as a testament to her thirty-year commitment to championing Australian and international new music, and the composers and collaborators who have helped shape it.

Featured non-Australian music: Missy Mazzoli - Orizzonte | Caroline Shaw (arr. Abby Fisher) - In Manus Tuas | Gemma Peacocke - I Promise Not To Poison You xoxo (Nightshade/Hemlock) | Anna Meredith (arr. Jessica Wells) - Bumps Per Minute
