Callum O'Reilly : Associate Artist

Callum O'Reilly is an Australian composer, multi-instrumentalist,
and multimedia artist whose work pushes beyond traditional
conventions and explores the outer limits of the classical
ensemble. Drawing on influences from electronic music, hip-hop,
pop, and modern jazz, he creates distinctive sonic worlds that
are deeply connected to contemporary culture while subtly
reflecting the musical legacy of the past. Zen Buddhist
philosophy and tradition also play a significant role in shaping
his creative practice.
His music has been commissioned and performed by leading
Australian ensembles and organisations, including West Australian
Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Omega Ensemble,
Ensemble Offspring, Flinders Quartet, Australian National Academy
of Music, Perth Symphony Orchestra, Australian Youth Orchestra,
Symbios Quartet, and Willoughby Symphony Orchestra. Having
created more than 100 orchestral arrangements, O'Reilly is
increasingly sought after as an arranger for pop music and
classical crossover collaborations.
Beyond the concert hall, O'Reilly has collaborated extensively in
theatre and dance, including two projects with award-winning
choreographer Laura Boynes. He is also an accomplished sound
installation artist, with works presented internationally,
including in Fujiyoshida. In 2024, he completed a studio
residency at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, where he
developed his first Dream Room, a multi-sensory interactive music
experience.
Most recently, O'Reilly composed the score for The Worm, which is
scheduled to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2026, he
also composed new works for the Australian National Academy of
Music, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, and Orchestra Victoria.
