Philip Cullen : Associate Artist
Phillip Cullen is an Australian composer currently based in
Helsinki while completing master's studies in music theory at the
prestigious Sibelius Academy, and continuing his research into
the music of Kurt Atterberg. He is there with the support of the
Sydney Moss and Finland scholarships. He completed undergraduate
studies in composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music,
graduating in 2022 with first class honours.
Phillip's music was selected for the 2021 Artology Fanfare
Competition. In 2023, he was selected to participate in AYO's
National Music Camp as a composer, and later that year was the
winner of the Ralph Morton Memorial Choral Composition
Competition. In 2025, he was a recipient of the Sydney
Philharmonia Choirs Emerging Composer Award, and his work was
performed at the Sydney Opera House.
Also a seasoned chorister, Phillip has performed with the
Sibelius Academy Choir, Sydney Philharmonia's VOX, Ad Lib New
Music Choir, the Sydney Conservatorium Chamber Choir and Sydney
Conservatorium Choir.
